With a history of over 75 years, the Somerset Wheelmen is truly an institution when it comes to bicycle racing in New Jersey. The Somerset Wheelmen boasts a membership that includes national and world champions in track and road cycling as well as hundreds of state and regional championships in track, road, cyclocross and mountain biking. The team meets every third Wednesday of every month (except July and December) at the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame, which is located at 145 West Main Street in Somerville, New Jersey. Benefits to membership in the Somerset Wheelmen include:
- Team support and advice from experienced racers and coaches.
- Bonus Payout System (monthly payment to active racers and members to help offset fees of competition).
- Partial to full repayment of travel expenses for out-of-town competitions.
- Generous support to members for sponsorship of local events, charities and clinics.
- Monthly meetings held at the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame.
- Training rides and club races.
- “Hometown advantage” and racer introduction at the starting line of the Tour of Somerville, New Jersey’s premier bicycle race.
- Several yearly, family-oriented events, including the annual Somerset Wheelmen awards dinner and summer picnic.
- Participation in a longstanding and continually growing tradition of bicycle racing and service.
